Community Solar

The Oregon Community Solar Program helps thousands of Oregonians lower their electricity bills by subscribing to shared solar projects. You don’t need to own a home or install panels—just sign up and get solar credits that reduce your monthly utility bill, all while helping the environment.

Community Energy Project connects income-qualified customers to the Oregon Community Solar Program. For those who exceed income guidelines, visit the website.

Why Go Solar?

It’s good for the planet, it’s local, and it’s accessible. The Oregon Community Solar Program is a great option for people who don’t own their roof, are likely to move, and don’t have the money for upfront payments but still want to be a part of the clean energy movement. All projects are built in Oregon, and they exist because of your support.

How Does it Work?

Many people subscribe to a large, off-site solar project and your share shows up as a credit on your utility bill. For income-qualified households, the savings are guaranteed: your monthly credit will always be more than the subscription fee. CEP helps connect eligible customers to the program. If you don't meet the income guidelines, you can still participate—just visit this website to learn more.

Do you qualify?

All participants have to live in Oregon and be customers of Pacific Power, Portland General Electric, or Idaho Power. Low-Income subscribers receive additional bill credits and protection from bill increases, sign-up fees, and termination fees. You can live in any type of home, and be a renter or owner.
