Community Energy Project honors the life and legacy of David Marshall Brook, who served on CEP’s Board of Directors from 2008 through 2022, helping guide the organization through more than a decade of growth, change, and deepened impact.

Throughout his fourteen years of service, Dave brought steady leadership, generosity, and a strong belief in CEP’s mission to partner with low-income and frontline communities to create healthier, safer, and more resilient homes. He was a thoughtful and committed board member who understood both the urgency and care required in community-based work. Dave consistently showed up with integrity, curiosity, and respect for the people and communities CEP serves.

Dave was also one of the first recipients of CEP’s Good Energy Award in 2015, which recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in service to the organization and the communities we work alongside. The award reflected what so many of us experienced firsthand: Dave’s deep commitment and willingness to support CEP wherever he was needed.

We were honored to recently feature Dave in CEP’s forthcoming documentary, scheduled for release this spring. His inclusion reflects not only his long-standing relationship with CEP, but also the values he embodied: service, humility, and a commitment to solutions rooted in dignity and community care. That contribution will remain a meaningful part of CEP’s story.

We are deeply grateful for Dave’s years of leadership and support. His impact lives on through the organization he helped strengthen, the communities CEP continues to serve, and the example he set for thoughtful, values-driven leadership. He will be missed and remembered with great respect and appreciation.
